College of Education and Human Development (Twin Cities)

Community Outreach and Engagement Award (February 2013) — Twin Cities - Sponsored by the College of Education and Human Development, undergraduate or graduate students who possess solid accomplishments in the improvement of direct services that are provided by educational, health, and related human development agencies are eligible. Deadline mid-February.

Multicultural Recognition Award (February 2013) — Twin Cities - Sponsored by the College of Education and Human Development, undergraduate or graduate students who, as part of their professional or co-curricular work, have made outstanding multicultural efforts in to the CEHD community in: community outreach, curriculum, mentoring, and/or student development and advocacy. Deadline mid-February.

Outstanding Student Leadership Award (February 2013) — Twin Cities - Sponsored by the College of Education and Human Development, registered CEHD graduating seniors or graduate students who have proven leadership skills and who have had a positive impact on CEHD, the University, and community are eligible. Deadline mid-February.

College of Liberal Arts (Twin Cities)

Dr. Matthew Stark Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Award (March 2013) — Twin Cities - Student nominee should have shown a unique and demonstrable contribution to the democratic process in one or more of the areas of social justice, civil liberties, civil rights, or public education through their research, teaching, outreach, or community engagement.

College of Pharmacy (Twin Cities)

Pharmacy Community Service Award (Spring 2013) — Twin Cities - Sponsored by the College of Pharmacy (Twin Cities), graduating students who have made significant contributions to the communities’ education.

Campus

President's Student Leadership and Service Award (January 2013) - Twin Cities - Awarded through the Office of Student Affairs, students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service. Deadline early February.

University of Minnesota Alumni Association Award (March 2013) - Twin Cities - Awarded through the Office of Student Affairs, undergraduate students who received the President’s Student Leadership and Service Award and has a GPA of 3.25 or greater are eligible.

Mary A. McEvoy Award (March 2013) - Twin Cities - Awarded through the Office of Student Affairs, graduate or professional students who received the President’s Student Leadership and Service Award and has a GPA of 3.50 or greater are eligible.

Tony Diggs Excellence Award (February 20, 2013) - Twin Cities - Sponsored by Student Unions and Activities, this award recognizes student group achievements. The award is open to all Campus Life Programs and Registered Student Organizations, which include registered student groups who serve undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Deadline February.

Donald R. Zander Award for Outstanding Student Leadership (March 2013) — Sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs, this award is for undergraduate students to honor their exceptional academic achievement, personal character, and outstanding institution-wide leadership and service. Students must first be nominated for the President’s Student Leadership and Service Award.

System-Wide

Scholarly Excellence in Equity and Diversity (SEED) Awards—Sponsored by the Office for Equity and Diversity, current undergraduate, graduate, or professional students who demonstrate outstanding achievement and leadership in academic performance and/or outreach/activism. For graduate and professional nominees, the nominees research and scholarly interest must focus on issues of equity, diversity, and/or social justice. Deadline Fall.

Josie R. Johnson Human Rights and Social Justice Award (April 2013) —Sponsored by the Office for Equity and Diversity, current students, staff, or faculty who, through their principles and practices, exemplify Dr. Josie Johnson’s standard of excellence in creating respectful and inclusive living, learning, and working environments. Deadline Spring.

Outstanding Community Service Awards (April 5, 2013) —Awarded through the Office for Public Engagement, this award is open to students, staff, faculty, and community partners who have made an extraordinary, significant contribution to the betterment of society through his/her research, academic studies, and/or public service. Deadline April.

State

Minnesota Campus Compact Presidents' Award (March 1, 2013) —Sponsored by Minnesota Campus Compact, this award is for an individual student or a student organization that models a deep commitment to civic responsibility and leadership, evidenced by initiative, innovative and collaborative approaches to addressing public issues, effective community building, and integration of civic engagement into the college experience. Deadline mid-March.

National

Newman Civic Fellows (February 2013) —Sponsored by Campus Compact, this award recognizes sophomore and junior student leaders who have demonstrated an investment in finding solutions for challenges facing communities through the county. Deadline Spring.

Imagining America Fellows (May 2013) —Sponsored by Imagining America, these fellowship are for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested and active in public scholarship within humanities, arts, and design, and have a leadership role on their home campus or in the community.

Jefferson Awards for Public Service—Sponsored by Students in Action, this award recognizes significant involvement in community service. Students In Action is a national youth recognition and reward program, designed to pass the tradition of service and volunteerism on to the next generation of young Americans.
